This is a selective guide to assist the legal researcher in using the Bluebook and Association of Legal Writing Directors (ALWD) citation manuals. It is not comprehensive in scope or intended to be a catchall source, but rather to act as a starting point for the researcher to find additional sources and relevant information. Annotations provide brief descriptions and do not purport to serve as critiques or endorsements of the titles’ contents or authority. The resources listed are those owned or available at the Cooley libraries.

In the sections of the guide focusing on print materials, the "location" provides the call number for a work. Clicking on the title takes a user to the relevant entry in the catalog.
