Tort Law: Introduction

This guide is intended to help users conduct research in tort law by providing some useful starting points. The focus of the guide is on up-to-date items held by the Cooley libraries. It is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all the resources in this area of law.

The guide is organized according to the topics listed to the left, in the guide outline. First, it covers Michigan sources, both secondary materials and relevant statutes. Then the scope widens, first to national and federal sources, and then to treatises on international tort law.

In the sections of the guide focusing on print materials, the "location" provides the call number for a work, as well as listing in parentheses the Cooley library branches that have it. Clicking on the title takes a user to the relevant entry in the catalog. Where possible, guide sections about statutes link to the appropriate law.

Please contact us if you have any questions or need any further guidance. Being asked for reference help is no bother--it's why we're here.
